The Bursledon Village Band are one of the best Barn Dance & Ceilidh Bands in the UK. Firm favourites as a Folk Dance Band at Folk Festivals, Ceilidh clubs and Barn Dances for over 30 years.

Andrew Purkiss

Andrew joined us on Keyboard in 2006. He's slotted in very quickly and as well as providing some excellent rythmic keyboard playing he aso brought us a drummer, he is of course Robert's dad.

Andrew is another of the music teachers in the band and seems to spend his whole life involved with music. As well as being an ace keyboard player he is even more stunning on the 5 row Continental B Sytem accordian. He plays the Duet Concertina and the drums and can turn his hand to most other instruments though Pete's tuba causes him a few problems.

Andrew has been involved with Barn Dance music for many years and originally founded a well known local band, Rufus Return. A move abroad meant he had to leave that band in the hands of one of his pupils, Danny Harmer. When he returned to the UK he came to play with us and we hope will be playing with us for the forseeable future.

You might see Andrew's wife Lisa with us on occassions, she is a fine caller and often comes along to put the crowd through their paces.
